IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Until further notice, due to personal reasons, Sifu Lamar M. Davis
II will be doing NO FOREIGN seminars. All foreign students are urged
to come to the United States to participate in the H.I.T. Program,
or some of the major JFFAA Training Camps. This does not include
Canada, but does include all areas outside continental North America.
If this situation changes, it will be posted here!
What follows is a complete listing of all seminars currently available.
Please keep in mind that each title is a two-day seminar. In the
past someone made the mistake of thinking that they could just
choose as many topics as they wished to be covered in a single seminar!
That is not how it works. Please keep this in mind when pre-planning
your event. You must stick to the topics provided!
Another thing that you will want to consider is the hours of your
event. 11:00 A.M. is the preferred starting time. This gives those
that are driving in from a distance more time to arrive. The minimum
time commitment of a seminar is eight hours, and the maximum is twelve
hours. I recommend either two four hour days, two five hour days
or two six hour days, with a one hour break for lunch right in the
middle of the time period. I find that between five to six hours
of intense training is all that most people can handle at one time!
Usually, between five and six hours is where they hit that brain
overload point. Select your seminar title from the list that follows.
(1) Modified Gung Fu - Covers the original teachings of JKD's Founder from the Seattle,
Washington period. The emphasis is on centerline preservation, strong straight
punching and agressive sticking and trapping hands.
(2) Modified Gung Fu / Part II - Covers the Sil Lim Tao form as taught by the Founder of Jeet Kune Do and the practical application of all of the movements. A very in-depth,
intense seminar!

early techniques!

and techniques of Jeet Kune Do as developed, practiced and taught by
JKD's Founder. Very in-depth seminar!

really enhance your hand skills! Notice: Focus gloves needed for this one!
(6) Lower Body Tools - Covers the eight basic kicks of Jeet Kune Do
(straight kick, hook kick, side kick, back kick, stomp kick, inverted hook
kick, spin back kick and sweep kick), their mechanics and practical applications.

die dar (simultaneous defense and attack) and practical applications.

intercept the opponent with a punch or kick. You will learn the principles
of non-intention and no-mindedness for non-telegraphic delivery of strikes.

kick, the inside angular and outside angular stop kick. This is what Jeet Kune Do is all about! Notice: Focus gloves and serious shin guards needed for
this one!

Devastating!

conceived, practiced and taught by the Founder of JKD (Single Direct Attack, Attack
By Combination, Progressive Indirect Attack, Hand Immobilization Attack and

SPECIAL TRAPPING SEMINAR SERIES
Sifu Lamar M. Davis II
The following listing of seminars is a progressive trapping hand/leg
series. These seminars are to be held in the order that they are
listed to get the most from the series. Trapping is something that
doesn't exist in most martial arts. Even many Jeet Kune Do
Instructors and students are weak in the trapping hand range, due
primarily to the fact that their instructor probably didn't put enough
emphasis on energy/sensitivity drills and development of strong trapping
skills. This is unfortunate, especially considering the deadly nature
of trapping range weaponry!
With this series of seminars, you can learn to put trapping into
your existing style or improve the trapping skills that you already
have. Emphasis is on the specific subtleties of each basic trapping
movement, possibilities for defensive responses from an opponent,
where to go from there and the specific energy/sensitivity drills
that will improve your timing and execution of these movements. Also
covered will be the unique area of counter trapping, or, how to trap
the trapper! If you have a mook jong in your school, we will also
cover how to train the movement on the mook jong. This is guaranteed
to be the most in-depth exposure to trapping hands/legs that you
will ever get!
Seminar 1 - Introduction to Trapping
This seminar covers reference points, the asking hand, the three
basic energies, the weapons of trapping, the basic trapping hand

compound trapping, counter trapping and grappling. You will learn
to fully functionalize your trapping for street defense use! There
are those who have tried to say that trapping doesn't work in the
streets! Their problem is that they haven't taken it to this level!

highly experienced. If it should be necessary for Sifu Davis to bring an Assistant
Instructor, they will be paid $100.00 for each seminar day plus all expenses
(airfare, meals and lodging). Most of the time this isn't necessary, but sometimes
things run a little smoother and the students learn more with an assistant
present!
Seminar Guidelines
- Open seminars should be scheduled at least four months in advance
to allow for maximum advertisement.
- Closed seminars can be scheduled with as little as one month's
notice.
- All seminars are to be two days, preferably Saturday and Sunday.
The minimum time requirement is eight hours. The maximum time is
twelve hours. Eight hours is good, ten hours is excellent and twelve
hours is staring to push it just a little bit! About six hours
per day is all that most students can handle!
- Seminar fee is to be paid in cash on the date of the seminar,
if not before! Half of the fee pre-paid is preferred for foreign
seminars.
- Cameras and video equipment will be allowed, with the following
agreement: Following the development of the photos, a set will
be sent immediately to Sifu Davis. No photos of Sifu Davis may
be used for any purpose without his written consent! Immediately
after taping, the video camera owner will give the original tape
to Sifu Davis in a self-addressed, padded envelope. A copy will
be made and sent to the camera owner, with the agreement that he/she
will not sell or distribute this video footage to anyone! If they
cannot agree to all of these terms ahead of time, they will not
be allowed to tape the event! It's just that simple!
- Everyone attending the seminar must pay in full at the door
or in advance. No instruction is rendered without payment! Participants
not intending to train must pay a one-half price spectator fee.
A certain amount can be learned just by watching, so it is not
fair for anyone to attend free!
- Seminar t-shirts can be available if they are pre-ordered by
the sponsor. They sell for U.S. $15.00 each, or three for U.S.
$40.00. Instructional videos are brought by request only and they
sell at seminars for U.S. $30.00 each, or four for U.S. $100.00.
8 x 10 autographed color photos of Sifu Davis can be purchased
for $10.00 each. JFFAA Instructor/Instructor Trainee Manuals
can be purchased by members only for $50.00. Membership application
forms and merchandise order forms will also be available for those
who wish to join at the seminar or pay in advance for merchandise
to be sent to them by mail. Anything else that is to be sold at
the seminar must be pre-approved by Sifu Davis.
- Any equipment that is necessary must be provided by the sponsor/promoter
of the seminar. For Further Information,

Seminar Arranging & Cancelling
How To Arrange
(1) Contact:
Sifu Lamar M. Davis II
Jun Fan Fighting Arts Association
324 1st Avenue East, Suite #06
Oneonta, Alabama 35121
Phone: (205) 467-9039
E-Mail: Sifu@HardcoreJKD.com
(2) Make request for the desired seminar date by writing, calling or e-mailing.
Have an alternate date planned in case your first choice is taken. Remember
to set the seminar up at least four months in advance! Inside Kung Fu requires
at least three months advanced notice in order to have a seminar listed.
(3) Confirm all arrangements and send the plane tickets well in advance (at
least two weeks before seminar date). There is no specific airline preference.
For a weekend seminar (Saturday & Sunday), Sifu Davis prefers to depart
from the airport on a flight that leaves between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. on Friday
and arrives that evening. For the return flight, Sifu Davis prefers to leave
on Monday sometime after 12 noon. For any variance of this schedule, arrangements
must be made well in advance!
(4) Make sure that participants are charged enough to adequately cover all
expenses! The average seminar fee per participant is usually $50 - $60 per
day, with slight discounts given to those who pay in advance for both days.
Some seminar sponsors like to set it up where participants have to pay more
if they pay at the door or after a specified early payment due date. This encourages
advanced payment, which is extremely helpful to the sponsor/promoter! It is
advised that participants are required to pay in cash! This helps in avoiding
any unanticipated banking problems!
(5) For a fee of $25.00, Sifu Davis will design an appropriate advertisement
brochure if you furnish all of the details such as dates, times, fee for attendance,
preferred payment method and exact location of the seminar. If you design your
own brochure, it must be approved by Sifu Davis before using!
(6) Certificates of attendance will be awarded to all participants.
(7) Seminar t-shirts can be made available for $15.00 each, and must be ordered
in advance from the above address. There are several different seminar designs
available, so be sure and discuss with Sifu Davis which shirt you want him
to bring and what color. Occasionally, sweatpants and other attire can be purchased
also. Instructional DVDs must be requested in advance and they sell at
seminars for the discounted rate of U.S. $30.00 each or four for U.S. $100.00.
8 x 10 autographed photos of Sifu Davis can be available for $10.00 each, with
a wide variety of photos to choose from. Instructor/Instructor Trainee Manuals
can be made available to members for $50.00. Catalogs sell for $10.00 each.
Please see to it that this information is available to all seminar participants
well in advance of the seminar! All purchases are to be made IN CASH! No other
method of payment will be accepted! If anyone has a specific need or demand
for certain items, they should request the items in advance! Advanced payment
can be sent to the above address in the form of a money order, preferrably
U.S. Postal, made payable only to Lamar Davis. MONEY ORDERS ONLY!
(8) Sifu Davis has no objection to a sponsor/promoter making a profit off the
seminar. However, the fee and expenses are to be paid NO MATTER WHAT! Your
honesty is expected and appreciated!
NOTICE! These terms have been set up in a simple, easy to follow
format! If you follow all instructions carefully you should have
a very successful event! If you should run into any problems, notify
Sifu Davis as soon as possible! To avoid problems, please follow
all outlined procedures exactly! We thank you for your co-operation!
How To Cancel (Please Read Very Carefully!)
(1) Once a seminar has been scheduled, at least one month's notice is required
to cancel it!
(2) If you cancel a seminar, there is a 50% cancellation fee (50% of the seminar
fee) which is to be paid in full immediately upon cancellation! What you have
to consider is that by taking up that date on the calendar, you have eliminated
a weekend that Sifu Davis could have done a successful seminar somewhere else!
Sifu Davis has to be compensated in some way for that loss! It is also extremely
embarrassing to have a seminar listed in Inside Kung Fu magazine, the Century
Martial Arts Update, the Jun Fan Fighting Arts Association
newsletter, Hardcore Jeet Kune Do magazine, all websites and forums, and then
to have the seminar cancelled! This makes Sifu Davis and JFFAA look bad!
(3) If you cancel a seminar and do not follow these procedures, you will be
banned from all further Jun Fan Fighting Arts Association activities!
Your membership will be terminated and you will never be allowed another chance
to sponsor a seminar! Please keep this in mind! We are working hard to build
a strong organization, and cancelling seminars is not the way to go about doing
this!
